How many miles can you get out of a 300?

How many miles can you get out of a 300? I am at 250k and I change my oil at 5k intervals and never have to add any oil. I have always ran 15/40 Mobil-1 Or Shell Rotella (which ever was cheaper when I bought it). The only seal that has ever been changed is the rear-main and I did that when I replaced the clutch. I've heard rummors of 500k 300's but never talked to anyone that had more than 300k. In my opinion as far as longevity is concerned a 300 is the best thing Ford made. I've noticed alot of high mile 300's have that rattle when you start them. I don't have the rattle so hopefuly I can get another 100k or so out of mine.

Re: How many miles can you get out of a 300?

Yes the ford 240-300 engines are very durable basically because they were designed as industrial engines and are used as powerplants in many commercial applications. I doubt anyone really keeps count after 300K as the rest of the truck probably is *really* showing its age by that time

my favorite ford engine???

probably the 427 side-oiler, but a 429scj or boss will do just fine....

That would explain the 7 main bearings.
