4x4 not engaging

I went to go on a trail the other day in my 1996 EB Bronco and I push the button to go in to 4-wheel drive. I know the problem is that I have this crappy push button 4WD but that is all that comes on the EB edition. I heard the transfer case sound like it was locking and I though I was in 4WD but I started going out and got stuck and found out that the front wheels were not locked in. I dont know exactely what could be wrong. I think it is probably the automatic locking hubs, but do you guys have in information that might help.

Well at least you know your initial problem...push button 4x4 and auto hubs. Get under the truck and make sure the driveshaft is turing. If so then its prolly the auto locking hubs. Switch em out for Warn premiums.

Re: 4x4 not engaging

Is there any way to change out the push button crap for a manual lever?

PIA...would involve lots of cutting and I dont knwo if the t-case would have the hole for the lever. Not real familiar with electronic transfer cases, for this very reason. An EB with manual transfer case would be awesome though. For now I would concentrate on the hubs. Practicly a bolt on, and MUCH cheaper. You will also notcie improved fuel economy.

I don't think you have a choice with that Tcase. The only way to go manual would be to buy a manual Tcase.
