upper ball joint nut

i can't get the nut off the ball joint keeps spinning,i can't get vice grips on it .i've tried everything i could think of,weging it,it keeps spinning.the bottom nut is off ,any help would be great,by the way its a 87 full size XLT, the passanger side upper ball joint nut ,i have to replace the upper ball joint [img]images/graemlins/cussing.gif[/img]

put a floor jack nder the steering knuckle and try holding hte truck up by the jack. puts lots of pressure on it to hold it.
if that fails, try heating the nut(if replacing), and using a impact.
last resort, cut the nut off.

Introduce the thing to a carbon tipped Sawzall blade !


I'll be doing mine in July, is that top nut 1 1/8", like the bottom, or 1 5/16" ?
