New toys for the Bronco..

Well I got some new toys for the Bronco. Best Buy had a killer deal on CD players so I bought a new Kenwood deck that plays CD's and MP3's and Sirius radio. I had to get new seperates for the doors and they had a 50% off and speaker with the Kenwood deck. Then I bought the satalight antena and the tuner was free! Now I am rockin for now untill I build my consol Sub box.
I also put on some clear turn signals up front so now there is no more ugly orange when I turn. It sure makes the front look different.

Cool, I don't know too much about sattelite radio. But sounds cool.

However I do have experience with Kennwood and I don't like them. There internal amps burn out too kwik. I went through three two free from manufacturer about two years ago and finnaly got a prorated refund. Went out and spent that on a lift!! still haven't taken care of the music dept. Good luck, maybe they corrected that problem or maybe i have Murphy's law on my side as Sixlitre said before.Bob

Re: New toys for the Bronco..

I think they have fixed the problem. I didn't want some fancy radio because my truck tends to get dusty inside and I didn't want anything to break. The sattelight radio is awesome. No more commercials or listening to the morning DJ's yammer about there weekend. I just want to listen to something. I mounted the antena in my roof. I took the over head light off and drilled a small hole and ran the wire through. Then used window sealer from out sailboat to make sure it wouldn't leak and it looks perfect. I was so tired of going camoing in mexico and not having anything to listen to. Now I can go anywhere and have music.

Cool. When I get to that project in 2-3 years (Is is pathetic that I plan so far in advance?) I plan to go with all Marine stuff and when I do I want to try the sat radio too. There's alot of desert to explore. The Black Rock Desert in particular.

Re: New toys for the Bronco..

Glad to see I'm not the only one on here with Sirius. I've had mine since last september and I just love it. I ran my antenna a little different than you did though. I've got mine on the metal piece between the windshield and the hood. No one looks for it there, so my theft risk goes down. Anyway, I hope you're as happy with "the dog" as I've been!

BTW, to keep up to date with what's going on in the sirius sat world, I recommend the forum.

Re: New toys for the Bronco..

Ya I love it also so far. I figured the place I mounted mine I didn't have any wires running outside the truck. And you can hardly see it unless your 7 feet tall. My next project for this weekend is to get a alminum 10 inch sub and make a custom box that goes where the console between the front seats is. I dont want to have a bog sub box taking up valuable camping and off roading room in the back and I never use the dumb thing between the seats except for the cup holders so I am going to mold cup holders int he box with glass. Should be cool and doesn't take up any more room in the truck.

I saw Tuffy, I think, with a ready-built center seat/sub combo box that would fit rather nicely.
