wierd question (sirius satellite antenna)

I just ordered a sirius satellite radio for my bronco. I keep trying to figure out how to mount the antenna (must have a line of site to the sky at any driving direction). Its magnetic as is made to go on the trunk of cars and run the wire into the trunk. I was just wondering if anyone has ever run wires like this, like for a light bar or something?

here's a link to a picture of the antenna (wierd looking).

Re: wierd question (sirius satellite antenna)

Where you mount it is going to decide on how to run it? Any Ideas? Sure you can't mount it on the dash near the window?

Re: wierd question (sirius satellite antenna)

IMO mount it right dead center of the roof(cab portion incase yuo ever take the top off) because you can run that wire under the window trim. i would run it all the way down to where the pillar and the quarter panel meet and run the wire between the two so it wont be seen. the route it through the existing hole at the door and up through the dash to the radio hole and ta daaa you got the wires run with out seeing the everywhere.

jst my .02

PS i got another idea but it would require tooo much typing.

Re: wierd question (sirius satellite antenna)

I got another idea and it worked. I mounted the magnetized antenna to the metal that the wipers are on, then ran the wire through the engine compartment. I would never notice it unless I knew it was there. The antenna is smaller in person. Only 2-1/2 by 1-1/2 inches (give or take). By the way, it is an awesome set up. I recommend it for everyone, sirius sat. that is.

Re: wierd question (sirius satellite antenna)

I welded a tab to my hinge on my spare tire carrier. i mounted my cb there. u can keep an eye on it in the mirror, and it's out of the way. then i ran the wire staright down, tru my bumper, up the frame, thru a hole in the floor, to my cb. i have no problems with it. Just make sure to caulk the hole in the floor.
