passenger window

Karma must be taking a dump on me. On the way to school today, the pass. window just fell. It didn't break but fell down below the sill so that I can't even force it up. The motor went out and I'm stuck with the window down. Any guesses on how to force it up until I can get a chance to replace the motor. As always, Thanks in advance.

Re: passenger window

Pull your inner door panel off and it will become very obvious what has happened....

and how to fix it. Chances are good that the plastic squarish runners inside your channel (bolted to the bottom of the window) have disintigrated. Replace them, stuff the window half up, feed them into the channel and you're on your way.

Re: passenger window

Already checked that and it wasn't it. I'm not able to pull/jerk the window up. To replace the motor, can it be done with the window down or must it be up? Instructions say up but not possible. I went to O'Reilly's in town and they were very helpful AND courteous AND at least 10bux cheaper than everyone else, my kinda people.

Yeah, but did you make sure it was the right part. Everytime I go there I get the wrong part at least once. I had to make 4 trips to get the right shocks.

Re: passenger window

Are you positive that the motor is finished? Have you checked to see if it isn't just your door handle jammed into it? The door handle can get jammed into the motor, in which it obstructs the functioning of the window, etc. If hitting a hard rut or bump, it is likely to happen.

Re: passenger window

I wish it was the door handle but it's not. I still can't get the window up; is there some sort of release lever that needs to be pushed/pulled or whatever to release the tension? If it wasn't my daily driver(for the most part now), I'd take the doors off! The top and everything above the "normal" window line but the windshield would be cut off of course and a cage welded in of course.

Re: passenger window

Was finally able to replace the motor on Saturday. It was a serious [email protected]#&* on the knuckles to get it done. When it goes out again, driver or passenger, just taking the doors off and the he!l with it.
