AOD to np205?

I was wondering if anyone has mated a NP205 t/case to a AOD? I've found all the info I need on how to do the swap. I'm looking for someone who has done or know a bit on it. The truck is a 87 F150 ex cab shortbed 4x4 with a 351W. I was wondering if any changes in the driveshafts need to be done during this swap? Kinda tired of having to tear into the BW case to replace Stretched Chains or Pump going bad and frying most everything in the case.

Re: AOD to np205?

You might try a later-model bw1356 case with the updated case casting that keeps the oil pump from moving around. What are you doing that's causing the chain to stretch, because I've beat the crap out of mine in the mud and on rock and not had one mechanical problem with the case. As for the 205, you could notch the aod tail housing but you still need the boss on it for the shifter, and I'm not sure if a C6 tail housing would bolt to the AOD.. maybe. Somebody else probably knows, but personally I'd find a newer BW case and keep the 2.7:1 low range

Re: AOD to np205?

bumper,

the truck just really see's lots of hard uses in mud and dry ground pulling. as for mounting the 205 to the AOD it'll bolt right up, just gotta do a lil grinding on the tailshaft and grind 1/2" off the shifter mounts to allow for the 205 shift linkage. plus i've got a extra 205 i picked up for my 79 bronco or my 78 f150 so not extra $$ paid out. it's not my truck just a friend of mines i help keep him on the road. just lot late night calls sayin hey my case blew and i'm burried to the frame get old. which is fun gettin the bronco out after him while he's screamin those 35-14.50 tsl boggers are throwin to much mud for me to see!..lol so i'm gonna fix him up with a case i know that can handle what he dishes out..
