Newbie Questions (F350)

I am looking at a 1991 F350 CC/LB XLT 4x4 w/ a 460 in it. I have a few questions about it. How hard would it be to swap in a '96 front clip on to it? Pretty easy is what I've heard.
Also, what axles? I am assuming D60/10.25". And what steering do they have? I am hoping it has crossover...
What gears are available? 4.10's usually? Or do they come with something else most of the time?
Also, what is the fuel system like on these trucks? Is it a good year for the 460? Would it have EFI?

I am looking for a truck that I can lift up about 4" spring, and add 1" Zero Rates, 5.14 gears, bushwackers, 38" PJ's on recentered HMMWV wheels, and some other stuff.

Re: Newbie Questions (F350)

I don't know about the clip but everything else you can do with your truck. That's a good year. The last year of the D60 King Pin Axle. I'm sure with that year it has Fuel Injection. 38's can be accomplished with some work but with leafs F&R I'm thinking it's not going to be too hard.

Re: Newbie Questions (F350)

The other F350's don't have kingpins (like a 1995 or somethin)? When did they start using Powerstrokes? I am thinking about holding out and getting a Powerstroke instead, due to MPG issues. This will be my DD, and Tow rig for the K10, so mileage is important.

What about that steering?

OIC... thanks guys for the help.

I think I'll try to find a CC/LB Powerstroke. I need the good mileage.

Re: Newbie Questions (F350)

You need to be more specific. What kind of steering are you looking for? What kind of wheeling to you intend to do if any? Try the search engine and you will find a plethora of topics and hours of reading fun.

Re: Newbie Questions (F350)

They don't come stock with crossover steering, checkout Off Road Unlimited for some crossover kits. Damn expensive though. I think 4.10/4.11 were offered as an OPTION, but not positive. Should say 4.11 on the Sterling somewhere. Good luck.
