Gear Lube Question

Hello all I just replaced my leaking rear axle seals with no problem thanks to all the great help I found on this board but now it is time to fill up the diff and I noticed that the gear lube they recommended at autozone has a different spec number (m2c108-c) than what my owners manual recommends (m2c192-a) Do you think this will be all right?? I do have the ford friction modifier that I will put in with it also. Thanks in advance for your help.

p.s. It's a 1994 bronco

Re: Gear Lube Question

I have no idea what those spec numbers mean.

I believe ford spells out 85w-90 gear oil, 85w-140 if towing and/or in warm climate is acceptable too. Any gear oil with those weights, from say valvoline or name brand, will meet fords requirement. Then make sure you put the modifier in if equipped with crap lock. fluid level should be between 1/2" and 1/4" below fill hole.
