One of the worst feelings in thw world!

Is coming to a Redlight Backed up with Traffic and hitting your Break Pedal and it goes to the Floor! Man what a scary experience. Happened to me this morning on the way to work! God hope it never happens again. Luckily there was no one comin on the other side of the Highway! Just coasted down the road for a bit then pulled into a Gas Station. The brake pad fell off the rotor and shot right through the Caliper, what a Mess! Didnt take to long to fix though. Glad i Work in The parts Business! But still one of the worst feelings ever!!

is your rotor worn so badly that your pads are riding on the cooling fins?

i know what you mean, i had a similar feeling when i blew out my rear wheel cylinder, and the feeling only got worse when the brake light came on, 'cause i then knew I was bleeding my brakes the hard way, and in a hurry!

That is scary. When it happens, your just along for the ride. I had it happen to me a few years ago. Got them right back five seconds later. I never did find anything wrong. I think it was just an air bubble in the brakeline or something. I flushed the system and had no further problems.

I had something similar happen to me, I was sitting at a red light when the brake pedal slowly went to the floor. They worked fine if I just pushed on them it only happened when I would hold the brakes. It turned out that the master cylinder went bad.
