that year model could have had that motor an 302 with c6 and a 300 inline 6 with a c6, they also had a 4 speed manual transmision for it too.

Well, in particular I'm curious if I can find out what gears it came with.

Can I find that out from the VIN #?

No. The VIN has no code for the gears. Check the front of the Haynes manual for the info in the VIN. Your ratio is in the AXLE code on the door sticker. You can see some of the codes here.

So according to the sticker I should have 3.55 (limited slip) gears.

Damn, I was hoping against hope to have 3.73's.

So when swapping the gears out, the front and back have to be the same gear ratio?

They have to be very close (i.e. 4.09 Front/4.10 Rear)

You can just regear the rear (i.e 3.55 Front/4.10 Rear)and it would be fine if you just used 2wd but in 4wd it would bind if you are on any type of hard surface, and tear the sh!t out of your transfer case.

That's what I thought. Guess that'll be another project.

So, 4.10\'s the way to go?

So if I wanted to run 35's, would 4.10's be the way to go?

Re: So, 4.10\'s the way to go?

yeah, with a C6 and 35's, 4.10's would be the ideal mix of highway revs and low end grunt. if you're up for a project, you can swap the E4OD low gear into the C6 and then you'd be set

If I were gonna do that, why not just get an E40D to begin with? I have to rebuild this C6 anyhow..
