cruise control

hey guys
my cruise control stopped working. i bought new tires and changed the constant on the psom and was wondering if that would have anything to do with my cruise control not working. anyone else have this problem?

Re: cruise control

no it shouldn't. Have you done anything else to it recently? Have you messed around with the coffee can under the hood?

Re: cruise control

the only thing that i done was run my airlines for the onboard shock control i might of unhooked something by mistake. i'll check and see if there's anything unplugged.
i only noticed that it wasn't working after i changed the psom constant. oh and i did search the archives and read that the cruise works of an electronic sensor and also read one post from you juice that said something about the canister not being plugged or leaking caused your cruise not to work so i figured you would have some info on the subject. thanks juice

Re: cruise control

'93 is the first year that the cruise system is NOT vacuum-operated. It's all electric. You can tell by the servo mounted near the L hood hinge. Get the Haynes manual and look at the wiring diagram for '92-96 cruise, then make sure you have power and ground where you should.

Re: cruise control

i checked all lines going into the canister and everything seemed tobe hooked up right.i'll have to check the manual for the ground and power connections as steve83 suggested for now.
thanks for the input steve

Re: cruise control

well i finally got the cruise control fixed. problem was the brake lights. a few months ago i bought some red led brake lights cause i have the clear tail light lens and the jel caps for regular bulbs would turn white after a while.
i figured the led lights wouldn't fade. the problem with the led lights were that they would come on when i had the ignition on. so when ever i tried to put cruise on the lights would just cancel out the cruise control.last night i was doing some surfing and came across a web page that had some great info on ford trucks last night so today i changed the bulbs with reg. bulbs and them jel caps and cruise works again all i'll have to do is stock up on them jel caps
