The orange beast rides again

I finally found an affordable tranny for my truck! Was at the local insurance salvage auction this morning and picked up an unrepairable 90 Ford P/U, 4X4, 5.8 l EFI, E4OD, loaded. Had a good smack in the left front corner, wheel pushed back and it looks like whoever he hit caught fire, scorched paint on the front, engine compartment untouched. Wasn't the tranny I hoped for, I was looking for a 95 or 96 to either use as is, or for internal parts to upgrade my 92 trans. Oh well, this beats driving my wife's Buick! Anyways, I think the tranny is a direct replacement for my 92 300 six, my Chilton's book doesn't show any problems, but some spoilsport says I might have a compatibility problem with the electronics. What do you guys think? While I'm at it, 5.8 vs. 300 six? I'm tempted, but really, the six has done everything I ask of it. By the way, yes, the rest of the truck is going for parts, but shipping from Winnipeg can be a killer. PM me if you want anything.

5.8 vs. 300 six?

[/ QUOTE ]

If you've seen any of my posts lately, I'd guess guess you know my vote ... but since mine's not put together yet, I cant say how it'll perform.
The Big-6 was good to me, reliable & tourqey ... but I am hoping for a noticeable increase in power through the mid & hi ranges. Maybe someone can confirm this for us?

Re: The orange beast rides again

i like the big 6 in my bronco i love the low rpm torque it has it does have its down fall on the hiway but since i got it for offroad/hunting and dont drive 60 on the trails it does fine
the 302 in my f-150 works ok with the auto it has but if i had to chose i'd take the bronco with the stick/inline 300 in it
guess thats why the truck sits and sits and sits some more
