Hey I have a 89 and the power steering went out I looked at the Haynes manual and it talks about taking the drop pitman arm out and losning bolts at the steering wheel. Is all that necessary to swap pumps out?
What work need to be done if I chose a saw box instead?

[/ QUOTE ] No. You will have to disconnect the lines from the steering pump to replace it OEM. If you have to replace it anyway anyone here would not object to you upgrading to the Saginaw pump. The old Fullsize F150 vans had them. Just find the same motor setup as you have in the wrecking yard and pull the pump. They even have a good success rate at living through boneyard conditions. If it doesn't just use it as a core at your favorite auto parts store. My favorite is Napa. They seem to hire more knowledgable people than your average parts store. IMO: Da Zone Sux! But they are good for free tool rental.
