Man vs. Manifold - the halftime score

Thanks guys, for the help earlier ...

I also have to thank mother nature for forcing me not to turn wrenches all weekend ... just soaked the bolts a couple (few) times a day for two days !

So, as promised - the halftime score - 13 broken loose, no problems ... 3 snapped off -- none flush w/ the heads (yet, knock wood) !!

I put a borrowed acetylene torch & (borrowed too) vice grips to one of the studs ... no budge - damnit! Ah well, I gave em a good soak & covered it all back up again!

And I can firmly endorse CRC 5-56 penetrating oil & True Value 45 gallon lawn & leaf bags (an excellent fit for the 351)

All right! That's progress.
Take your time and don't get "PO'd" at em.
Once they break off flush, you're in for a lot more work.

(Took me a bit on the True Value 45 gallon lawn and leaf bags. )

On the remaining ones, do try what steve 83 mentioned *tapping* where you can. If the bolt is not accessable, tap on the manifold area surrounding the bolts. He has a very good point there, it shocks the frozen bolts and helps out tremendously, i just didnt mention it cuz i didnt think there would be any room in there for a hammer, well maybe one or two of the manifold bolts

Re: Man vs. Manifold - the halftime score

air chisle??
... i can't picture how that fits in this equation ... doesn't matter, though - no compressor

The motor's on a stand, in the driveway (thus the True Value garbage bags ) and the manifolds are off, so I can get the 4lb sledge in there anywhere !!

I gave 'em a few more shots of penetrating oil & a couple of raps w/ the BFH, just before dark last night ... looks like I'll have tonight to get them out, then I'm rained out for the rest of the week If this keeps up, I'm gonna have to put everything on pontoons !!

And all this time i thought you were bustin your arse under da hood, guess im not reading thoroughly again

As far as the air chisel, they make all kinds of blunt peening tools to use with them.
