Need Transmission

I have a 90 fullsize bronco with a recently dead automatic transmission. I want to upgrade to better accomodate my 35" tires. Do you all have any suggestions on what I should look for?

Re: Need Transmission

An AOD? Try http://www.baumannengineering.com . They can set you up.

If you don't mind losing the OD, you can drop back to a C-6.

Re: Need Transmission

Find a 5 speed ZF. It has granny and overdrive. I got one that needs work, look at for sale section. They are found in F250's. I'd be glad to give you soem measurements or use the search to find info on the swap if you are interested. I had a 84 with a C6 and now a 90. the 90 came with the mazda 5 spd and now ZF 5 spd. I much prefer the manual and the ZF is the stongest. Granny is great when crawling and breaking down hills!

Re: Need Transmission

Who makes the ZF? Is it a real Ford Tranny or is it made by a different company?

Re: Need Transmission

Aren't they a German company?
Used to make transmission parts for the Zeppelin?
I think the "F" stands for "Friedrichshafen".

(OK, so I cheated a bit. )
