engine swap kit

I've just finished installing my 3" homemade body lift and I'm starting to think of the engine swap that i have in mind. I've got a 302 now and fixing to start building a small block 400. Where can I get the "kit" from (motor mount brackets, etc.) Thanks

Re: engine swap kit

There is no "kit" that I'm aware of. Start researching, then finding/fabbing what you need. What year is your rig?

Re: engine swap kit

If anybody has one it would be Advanced adapters. If they don't have it you'll probably have to go the custom route.

Re: engine swap kit

I don't think there is a kit for a Ford Small block 400 but you can get a good stroker out of the 351W

Re: engine swap kit

The 400 was available in 80 and 81 Broncos. If you can find a cooperative Ford parts guy, get him to look up the part #'s for you. If not, try hittin' the bone yards for a 80 or 81 Bronco w/ 400 for the donor parts you need.

Re: engine swap kit

Like my2nd78 said, get all you need fom a pre-82 bronco-f150, the bellhousing bolt pattern is also different as is the exhaust so you might as well get it all in one shot from the boneyard...

Re: engine swap kit

Read my post carefully. I said there is no Ford 400 small block. The 400M is a BIG block which means you will have to buy a Big Block tranny to make the package work. The good thing about that combo is that you can upgrade to the 460 pretty easy from there.

Re: engine swap kit

My bad Norm, the block I'm referring to is the 351m. I think I can get the motor mount brackets from a boneyard, what else should I look for while I'm there. Thanks

Same things you'd need to look for if it was a 400M.
351M is also considered a "big block" as far as trannies go.
351M, 400M, and 460 all have the same bellhousing pattern.
