Is it pointless?

my tranny works fine on the street but i havent had the plesure of takeing it out yet. do i need to get someone to do a rebuild for off road use? im not too familiar with trannys[img]images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

BTW it has 4:56 gears and 36" swampers

nope, but you should extend it's breather line if you'll be in deep water at any point. that goes for all the breather lines on the truck too... it's very cheap insurance.

what kind of offroading? a higher stall will help you build HP faster for mud/sand use, but with 4.56 gears you should be ok in that department. i'd leave it as-is. (and i run 3.55 gears and 35" tires in the mud fine with stock everything, so...)
