motor swap worries

Ok here are my worries now that i am going to buy this motor has anyone swaped in a motor that they didnt know the year of the motor so that they can buy parts. Do you just use the motor casting year for ordering parts

What swap are you thinking of doing?

Sometimes its just a difference in a few gasket design changes or seals such as 1 or 2 pc. rear seals.

I have an AERA (automotive engine rebuilders assoc.) casting manual, i can give you a general idea what years particular casting #s were used.

yeah , did you check out the engine casting number? Also what motor are you going to?

I am building a 351w right now it is in a parts truck I just bought for $500 the motor runs or atleast that is what I was told. I need to put a carb on it and i will now more after that I just got the truck tonight so I havent had time to check the casting numbers but when I do you will all know about it so I can find out as muck info as I can
