Swap E4OD for C6 ??

Has anyone swapped out the E4OD auto tranny for a C6 in a '92-'95 F-150 with the 5.8L ?

If so, how did it run with the computer not having any input from an electronic tranny??

What all did it take to make the conversion?

Thanks in advance.

computer will run fine (ask Havack), but you'll need to change driveshaft length and swap to a C6 crossmember (or modify the current one?). another issue will be linkage: the E4OD uses a cable while the C6 has lever linkage.

Which linkage? The kickdown/TV linkage? Or the shifter linkage?

shifter.

Re: Swap E4OD for C6 ??

Was the cable linkage only for the 92-96 body style? I could have sworn on the F250 i'm getting the E4od was shifted with a lever. I could be wrong though cuz since it's not my truck yet i haven't been under it enough to memorize how it looks like i have mine.

Edit -forgot to mention My F250 is a 90

OH, well then there's a good possiblity that it did have linkage since that's the old-style body and steering column. C6's and E4OD's were both used in that era, so being a pre-92 is probably a good thing!

I did a swap from a E4OD trans to a C-6.....i was tired of rebuilding the E4OD (3 times)
I did have to screw around with crossmember and get 2 new driveshafts, and use a different adapter from the trans to the t-case.All the wiring is still stuffed up underneath the frame rail....i set the trans selector (the wiring harness bolted to the trans) in the neutral position just in case the computer wanted to play games.

I'll be installing a Art Carr gate shifter, so that will address any kind of cable/linkage issue. Plus it will have a manual reverse valvebody. So I will be doing all the shifting, so I won't need to worry about kick down cables, etc.

How's it run without OD now? I'll be running 37" tires with 4.88 gears. I guess down the road I could always add an over/under drive add-on or something.

You happy with the swap you made?

Thanks for all the help guys.

Re: Swap E4OD for C6 ??

I love it!
It's one of the best things i've done to the truck.I should have done it the first time i blew my E4OD.
The only down fall is the overdrive.....But when the hell am i gonna take this truck on a big trip. The only long trip i take is to Bloomsburg PA for the truck show.
Good luck with everything.....keep us posted.
