Dana 44 question, HELP?

I blew out the outer stub shaft on my 3/4 Dana 44. My question is will the outer stub shaft from a 1/2 ton Dana 44 work?. Also will Dana 44 stub shafts from chevy, Dodge fit? Thanks for the help everybody!

Re: Dana 44 question, HELP?

if your truck is a 78 like your handle says, yes 1/2 ton fords will work fine. the chevys will work, but they are slightly different legth. Be carefull with chevy 44's as some did not run 297X joints, but some other odd ball one.

thanks, one thing I forgot to mention, the frame and body are from an 78 F150, but the axles are from a 250, and I don't know what year, but the front has drun brakes, is there a difference in the outer shafts between drum and disks? Thanks for the help.
