rearend ?

i have a 77 250 with a 60 &70 under it and cant seam to keep a rearend under it. there are no bad angles, binding or spring wrap problems(rear ladder bars).i have destroyed 2 center sections on a 60 and snapped 2 pinions on my 70. my question is a gm 14 bolt any stonger than my 70? i have been told that they are but im not sure. i have access to another 70,14 bolt,or a tryingto get ready tomud race agin. any help would be appriciated.

Re: rearend ?

70 and 14 bolt are the same as far as strength. The only real difference being the 14 bolt pinion gear has the bearing in front of the teeth rather than behind it for better support.

Re: rearend ?

I have a 76 with a freshly built 390 and the dana 60. I don't know what kinda hp you are pushing but it must be some s**t. I put my truck thru hell every weekend. I just completly destroyed MileMarkers toughest lockout last weekend. But my diffs hold up good. I also cant keep transfer case mounts on her so she is mounted up solid. I cant really help with your question but I am curious what kinda hp you got to do that much damage!

Re: rearend ?

i dont have a real wild motor it just builds alot of low end. a little back ground, twice when i broke the 70 rears i was stuck and i dont like to walk. as for the 60 rears i split the carrier on them the first one was probably shot the second was a limited slip and drag racing got it.the begining of broken parts was a set of swampers then the 4spd .im hard on my toy for sure but its pretty tough. also this has all happend over about 12 years.
