VIN decoding, not CARFAX for 2wd F250

I'm trying to get some info on a 94 F250. I have the VIN, know that it's a 460, but think it's had some body work. Is there a site that will tell me what the original color was? I'd also like to be able to determine the tranny and rear axle ratio.

Thanks,

Bryan

None of that info is in the VIN - it's all in the codes of the door jamb sticker. Post the VIN and all those codes and we'll decode them.

Re: VIN decoding, not CARFAX for 2wd F250

Thanks for the help. All I have is the VIN, the truck is on the lemon lot at the local Air Force Base and I have to call the guy to look inside. Here's what I've got: 1FTHX25G0RKB28594

I actually did do a search but couldn't figure out which digit would be the tranny code, etc.
Thanks for the help.

Re: VIN decoding, not CARFAX for 2wd F250

As I said, none of the info you want is in the VIN, including the transmission. It's all in the safety sticker codes in the door jamb.

1FT - Ford complete Truck USA
H - brakes/GVWR 9-10,000 lb
X - extended cab
25 - 3/4 ton
G - engine code, probably a diesel. G meant 5.0/5.8L gas in earlier years.
0 - check digit
R - 1994
K - Kansas City, MO plant
B28594 - serial number

Ahh, you've provided more info than you'd initially realize. When I ask the mileage, the guy keeps telling me it's got 60,000 on the 7.5 liter and doesn't like to talk in terms of vehicle miles. Sinse the motor in it now is a 460, I have to assume a swap was made at some point, for some reason. That just adds some more fishy info that helps me pass on this "deal". That helped a lot.

Thanks for your time.

Bought the CARFAX report

Turns out it came with the 460 and the miles he indicates line up with the trucks registrations throughout its history. I might have to look at it again.
