Re: The best motor oil additive?

You`re using the best and most expensive oil but the WORST filter on the planet, Fram oil filters are !

I had two split the cannister and leak, i think muddy changed out an oil pump cuz of low oil pressure only to find out it was a fud up PH8A

If the search ever gets working here, you will find plenty of complaints about them. I just use Pennzoil purebase & d Purolators better quality (forgot what they call it) oil filter or a K&N when i dont feel im throwing money away buying a $9.00 disposable filter. As far as additives, i think their just a waste of money especially if your changing after 2K, but thats just me.

I'm with Broncomania. If you're changing your oil that often and using Mobil 1, you don't need any additives - that's not to say any of them are anything but snake oil anyway. Run a decent filter and you're good to go.

And you're throwing your money away changing synthetic that often.......but it's your money.

Re: The best motor oil additive?

Unless you're running on the rev limiter for the full 2K miles, there's no reason you should be changing synthetic oil that often. Unless there's high mileage on the engine and there's blow-by or knocks, no additives are necessary. Word around here is Fram is junk, and there's more than enough proof for me not to use use them, so I don't.

I like Wix filters and Restore engine treatment. But my motor has like 120,000 miles and I'm gonna run it till I can't run it no mo! I change the oil about every 3000

WOW!
I didn't realize Fram was so Sh*tty.
The reason i change my oil so frequent is because when i drive it....i drive it hard. And that 302 takes a beaten pushing that 3/4 ton truck around with 40" boggers. I figure i'll help it as much as i can.

Re: The best motor oil additive?

I'll second everyone else here as well. No need for additives with that oil and change interval. I've never had the problem with FRAM that everyone else had, but I still won't use em'. I get the NAPA Gold filters (which are made by WIX) and I buy the cheapest (whatever's on sale at the time) non-parafin based oil I can find.
