clutch hydraulic line

i've got an 89 f-150 with 302, and i just put in a tranny out of a 95 f-150, a mazda 5 speed. it all went in slick as heck, except for the hydraulic line onto the slave cylinder. does anyone know if that changed from 89 to 95? everything else was exactly the same. i swore at the thing for 2 hours and tried everything, and the darn thing won't go on. any ideas/info would be much appreciated.

Re: clutch hydraulic line

I'm pretty sure they're different, and you may have to change the whole system to the '95 style unless you want a splice in that line. IIRC, the older ('89) style used a roll pin to hold the line fittings together, but the newer style used a red ring clip. havack had to address this issue when he did his trans swap, so try PMing or e-mailing him.

Re: clutch hydraulic line

If you used the early model slave then you will have to use the early model hose and master. NO GIVE AND TAKE HERE ALL MUST MATCH. The 89 line will not fit a 95 slave. It will fit the 95 master but the master wil not pump enough fluid for the 89 slave. I recomend installing a new slave ($65) and a new Master ($65) with new line ($65, only avail from Ford). If you but new then go with the correct one for your year. The '95 master mounts differently than the '89. If you used the '95 fly wheel then go and get the starter to match ($130). You will also need to rewire for it.

Re: clutch hydraulic line

On the master the hoses are the same for both years. The slave side looks the same but the 95 is slimmer. 89 master pumps more fluid than the 95.

How do you rate the manual over the auto trans Havack?

Manual

I really enjoy the manual over my old auto. I do tend to use low range more offroad for more power control though. That might be because of the larger tires. I have a lower first but a lower O/D also. The tires kinda even both back out to what I had. All in all I like the manual. I go to pull it this spring to replace the leaky slave though......
