Broken U-Joints?

My buddy has a 76 Ford 4x4, 390 with a Dana 44 Front & 35" BFG Mud Terrain Tires, he keeps going through U-Joints which causes broken axles. Whats the cure?

Re: Broken U-Joints?

Remembering a post I'd read here some time ago, I asked the guy behind the counter if they carried Napa 'Gold' U-Joints ... he looked at me a little ... 'grease-less' I said - oh those the parts monkey replied ... sure enough, he returned from the darkened recesses of the store with shiny new U-Joints in little gold boxes ... I was ... and whoever called 'em Napa Gold's!!
J/K - thanks to all who've helped (including Mr. 'Gold')

Re: Broken U-Joints?

If I remember right the gold box was the supposed best quality part. Like you can get anything from a ditributor cap to rotors and so on. Never heard of gold box u joints.
