Re: 390 HP??

I could not find info on the 390 in 1976. I do know the 1969 Mach 1 had an optional 390 motor that produced 320 HP. However, I am certain your motor would not put that out. My guess is due to the oil crisis a couple years before, and if this was the stock TRUCK motor, the figures would be more torque oriented. You might see 260 Brake (not rear wheel) HP and 370 lb/ft perhaps?

Pretty close, TheJuice!
I'm showing for a '76 truck engine, 2bbl.
255hp @ 4400rpm
376ft-lbs @ 2600 rpm
(source: Chilton's 1969-1976)

Hey, these are cool!

Re: 390 HP??

Ha that was a decent guess, not just

Wonder what it would be with a proper 4bbl? Probably did not come stock with one on the truck motor though.

yea, I like the new icons too. I think we all agree we do not want to see the flipoff guy though.

my favorite is

though and are a close second.

The carb and manifold might net around 40hp (more like 25-30hp) over stock.
Now, if it's also got a fairly big cam (with upgraded valve train components),
increased compression ratio, port work to the heads, headers and free flowing exhaust......
it might be getting a little closer to 400hp.

Re: 390 HP??

Oh he also has a bigger cam, (he says it is the second to the biggest one he can get.)
