A buddy of mine owns a 76 Ford F-250 and for some reason when he goes mudding and and uses reverse in high RPM's it will pop out of gear. Even if you try to hold it in it still tries to pop out. What would be the cause of this
Tell him to check his tranny mount. I just had similar problems and had to fix my linkage. My linkage was bad because my tranny mount was broken and would contort and twist the linkage when I was in the rocks. I fixed the linkage and replaced the mount two days ago. I need to find a stubby wrench to finish tightening the pass side. Damn exhast! . It was obvious that this was the problem for me when I saw it. Tell him to check it out. NORM
When i worked at Ford as a tech we had a shop truck that had a 351 and a np235 trans. It would pop out of first and reverse no matter how high the revs are. It hurt like a SOB cuz the shifter would smack u HARD in the kneecap. We pulled the trans and half of the teeth on one of the gears were GONE. Of course it took out the gears that they meshed with also.
