Shop Says E-brake Will Lockup If Pressed?????

After getting my 3 inch body lift professionally installed (too much rust and fab'ing required for me to do) the shop told me not to use the emergency brake because it will not return to normal position once its pressed down. I was told that this failure would occur due to significant rust. I have read somewhere that it is important to not over adjust the e-brake as this will cause probs that cannot be undone w/out replacing the e-brake cables housing etc. There doesnt appear to be much rust at all from what I can see. From this, can anyone possibly see why I was told not to use the e-brake, and do you think they over adjusted it while they did the 3 inch B/L? I was dealing with it for the past few months, but now gotta fix it before I go to inspection. Thanks in advance.

Ha, i have the same problem with my ebrake. When you release it, it takes a good 5 minutes or so before the pedal returns to its 'released' position. My problem appears to be that it binds where the first cable exits the body. Chalk up another Con for the body lift.

did they adjust the cable for the body lift?
your cablesa re proably rusty on the inside and the cable cannot run smootly. a common problem. the two going off the rear to each wheel is usually where the probelm is at.

Body LIft

I professionally installed my body lift and have yet to do anything with the e-brake. Use it all the time and have no problems. Mine is clean and free from rust though...

Look at where the cable comes out of the floor and goes thru the body mount below the driver's door hinge - they might have kinked it by jacking the body up too much, and just didn't want to tell you it was their fault.

Yeah those guys are full of crap. Mine had problems cause the old tension springs were weak. I dont see how you couldnt just adjust it. Its real easy to do.
