Hard top question

Just wondering if anyone has taken their hard top off, and if you have how long did it take, and was it a pain in the...? Because i'm thinking about taking mine off each summer, so just tell me if it's worth it. thanks.

Re: Hard top question

Well you got an 89 and i have an 89 so here it goes. It easy. Just get a socket and remove the bolts. Have a couple friends help remove and put it back on cause its not exactly light.

Re: question

The "Search" function is your friend. Use it, and you'll find all kinds of useful info, including several methods of removing & installing your top alone.

Re: Hard top question

If I can direct your attention to the left...
It comes off easily, though the newer ones have a special security torx that has a nipple in the middle. The torx bit can be easily found however.

I believe there are 15 bolts total.

taking off putting on is a bit of a pain, so I now have a nice year round soft top. We are supposed to be getting some really high winds today/tomorrow, so I will test whether it blows off or stays in high winds
kidding, should be fine, works great on the highway.

The hardtop, I built a 33" tall platform, 8x8' so that I could do the removal/replacement myself. I can back the truck right up to it, so its just a matter of doing the turtle with the shell on and off the platform, into the bed of the truck.
It weighs about 150lbs, so if you don't have something setup like I describe, it is best to have the help of another person.
