Ford Ambulance Prep Package

I was wondering if any of you knew what all Fords ambulance prep package included. it seems that its mainly electrical and heat A/c type stuff. Is there any sort of suspension upgrades? Also i was wondering if any of you knew the difference between the F250 HD and the F-350. is it just mainly the front axle and dual wheels in the back? im wondering cuase ive seen that a F-350 has GVWR of 9000 or a little more, and my f250 HD has a 8800 gvwr. if i want to upgrade my truck to a dually, will i be able to do that with the dana 60 SRW, or will i have to switch studs and such? also, are the frames the same strength between the F250 HD and the F350? any information would be appreciated. thanks

All I know is the parking brake cables are different. Not much help, huh? Not certain if the cables were beefier or just longer......

heya, thanks. every little bit of information helps. I figure they must just be beefier, since a ambulance body wieghs a good amount, and you sure dont want the thing rolling away, when your loading somone in Thanks again

Only differences I know of... between 86-97 (not sure on years) F-250 and 350 is the front axle. Earlier 350's had a Dana 50 TTB and 86 on (maybe 87) had a solid Dana 60. But then again I don't know if your talking about strictly ambulance prep packages or the pickups.

Re: Ford Ambulance Prep Package

In addition to the front axle, the suspension is heavier in a F-350 than in a F-250. I *think* there is also differances in the frame (the 350 being beefier).

If you convert your truck to a dually, you will not raise the GVWR. True, you'll be able to haul a little more and be more stable when towing, but in the eyes of the law, inssurance co., ect your trucks GVWR will always be 8800. Even if you put 2.5 ton military axles under it and box in the frame.
