Exploding rear driveshaft cant find new one

I have a 79 f150 Its 4 wheel 1/2 ton With a Ford 9 in the rear and a dana 44 front I have 6 inch suspention and 3 inch body. It sets on 38.5. The truck also has a 460 and a c6 in it. Im having some problems keeping driveshafts in it. The last one sounded like a grenade going off underneithe me. I was wondering if any one could tell me where to go and buy a new one. I would like to be able to have a high strength one. My u joints are working fine i have the spicer 760s in it now and i have had no problem with them.

Jesse at High Angle can build you a new "one-ton" driveshaft. It's around $419.00 if you have a CV (which you probably don't?). Give him a call, leave a message if no answer, he will call you back.

I was quoted $350 for a new Bronco shaft with the 'CV'. Yours should be about the same for a good HD version. Check out big truck shops and ask them about it. Or look up driveshaft in Yahoo!

I got a replacement from Six States Distributors - they make shafts for race cars, and they spin-balance everything at 7000 RPM. All they use is brand new Spicer castings & Spicer Gold u-joints. My rear cost about $320 delivered. They advertise in most of the off-road magazines.
