Going to build a custom bumper for the bronco. going to use thr center section from a old warn winch bumper and custom fab the ends to make it more solid. The question is if I use 3/16 steel for the front bumper would I need to reienforce it with some angle iron (like build a frame around the outside edge of it and then weld the steel to the front of the angle iron

Depends on your design of the bumper out past the frame rails on each side. If it is boxed, you probably will not need it. I cut my stock bumper out there for added approach angle, then used flat 1/4" steel plate and bolted to the frame and bumper, and then made a tubular reinforcement that ran from the outside part of the bumper downt to the frame where the swaybar used to attach. this was necessary for rigidity. Made for a triangular reinforcment.
