Re: 1350 vs 1356

I think the only major difference is that the 1350 has a speedo gear in it whereas the 1356 does not. The speedo on the 92-96 models are in the rear diff.

I think you got that backwards. The 1356 has the speedo gear in the rear, near the output for the rear drive shaft. At least, it does on models prior to 92

1350 has a speedo in the back. Accidentialy pulled it out while hooking on vent line.

Re: 1350 vs 1356

Don't want to argue with you but I think you have it backwards. The 1350 has the speedo in the case and the 1356 does not. We have five Broncos in our family. A 88, 89, 93 (mine), 95, and 96. The 92 and later models have the 1356. The speedo is in the rear axle not the t-case. The only thing on the 1356's is the linkage. The 87-91 have the 1350.

Re: 1350 vs 1356

the 1356 had the speedo in the case as well. they didnt use it in the 92+ models, it drove off the rear axle, but my 89 with the 1356 shure did have the speedo in the transfer case.

Re: 1350 vs 1356

Meant to reply to this question. The 1350's were used in the 87-91 full size Fords and possibly for a couple years before that. I am not sure if they used them in the BII and Ranger but I doubt it.
