What\'s This???

And, should I worry about it if it's cracked?
Been that way for 8 years now, but thought I'd ask you folks.
Steve....Havack....anyone else with an '85....Buehler....Buehler?
Wires aren't loose, just the plastic mount is cracked.

Re: What\'s This???

Sorry, shoulda been a little more specific.
You're looking at the firewall, on the driver's side, just under the hood hinge mount.
The "pipe" thingy is my CB antenna.
The canister (in the foreground) that the vacuum hose goes into, is for the cruise control.

Clear as mud now?!

Re: What\'s This???

Well, my first thought was that it was some sort of power-point- Ya know, just some place on the engine from where ford could draw a common hot lead from.....
So i gotta ask....have you gotten around to chasing those wires yet? They gotta go somewhere!

Actually, no I haven't.....lately.
But....IIRC, the orange and red wires come off the starter solenoid. (fused links)
Have to go check for sure.
I'm assuming those 2 wires are the main power feeds for the fuse box, but that's a little high judging by the location of the plastic connector.
Not sure sure where the the black wire with the connector goes.
I'll let you know when I find out.
Gotta be someone with an '85 with that same setup???
Or, have I stumbled on a "mystery" junction.

Re: What\'s This???

When i rewired my 86 pickup it didn't have anything like that. My guess goes along w/ RepT's, a common power feed.

Re: What\'s This???

I think i would fix that junction box or replace it WD, my 86 has it (not cracked ) and those are some Heavy wires goin into the cab, cant find it on the wiring diagram but almost seems by the colors that they supply the EECM?

I know theres only one person on this board that knows for sure, the man whos dissected every part on a bronco to be had steveo!

BTW, wonder what that connector is that comes in next to the brake pedal with three wires, one red one blue/black and one org/yellow & about 10 guage?

That's the connector I'm referring to.
(or did I miss something there)
Are you referring to a connector inside the cab?
I'll check this evening and see if I can track where those wires go to, or, come from.

Gotta Go!!

Re: What\'s This???

I can tell yah what that plastic hunk is but nto what its for, the plastic hunk is a incilator. Theres probally a hunk of nylon on other end of the bolt going through it. THey have the same damn piece in the tempo/topaz compact cars. In the sedans they use it for mounting a hotwire from the battery.
