Re: 460 tranny

The big blocks have a differnet bolt pattern than the small blocks. The top 2 holes are higher up than on a small block. I don't know if the AOD was offered behind the 460, but you could check Havacks site. If you get a trans from behind a big block then yeah( if it exists)

Re: 460 tranny

Yeah soon ill be back in the military and im thinking of going 460 or 351 ho. I have a freind who is real good with building engines , tranny's and all. I want to go with the new fule injected 460 outta like a 95 f 350 , you can get it at autozone for under 2500. But was just wondering about trannies and what I could still use exisiting on the vehicle. Also whats your take on transfer cases. Ill reuse my 1356 if that will fly. I remember seeing those all have the same bolt pattern there.

Re: 460 tranny

Remember if you buy a crate motor you will have to add all the accesories to it. I think it would be a far less PITA if you bought one from a wrecking yard and rebuilt it so you would have all your accesories, wiring, ect.
