Winches

And I'm not talking about the Philipines! Who has one, Which kind is it, and why do you like it. Or what do you wish you would have bought knowing what you do now. I just want to know and it's been a while since my last real post so I'm entitled. NORM

Re: Winches

Okay Norm, I gotta be a poser here, 'cause I dont have a winch (& probably wont for a long time!! $$) but . . .
My bro luvs his Warn HSwhateverI 'cause the line speed is unmatched' . . . qouth the brudda- "when you catch a little traction here & there, you can keep on gettin' it without worrying about running over your winch cable - the H(igh) S(peed) really makes a difference."

er sumthin like that, I mighta paraphrased a little.

Re: Winches

I HATE the Warn XD9000i I have for that exact reason. It's too fast. I want something that'll pull a barge over a sand bar. I want a worm-drive Ramsey RE12,000.

Re: Winches

i like my ancient warn MX10000. slow as hell, but pulls my rig out of the mires. mounts cleanly without all the extra crap on top. fits into tight spaces for mounting very nicely.

Re: Winches

What's the average measurement of most winches? I'm going to fab my bumper so I can mount it inside/ behind the bumper between the frame rails. I was going to mount it on top but I think it would be better protected and pull better from that position. I'm going to do some work on my front and rear bumpers this next semester at the Community College. I'm also hoping to fab up a roof rack, some armor for underneath and a duel batterysetup for when I do that trimmin. (I know I've been talking about it all year ) If I have time I might find myself a York and fab a bracket for it too,

Re: Winches

roof rack winch mount hmm sounds interesting or maybe air driven rams to get you out of those mudpuddles witha little vertical lift.
