I-6 300 hp/torque

i had a guy at my hunting club ride with (we were clearing roads) and we had stopped on this steep hill to clear some fallen trees
well as i took back off he noticed how the bronco just picked right back up the hill and he asked me what i had under the hood when i told he asked how much horsepower/torque it put out i told him i dont know cuz i dont which brings me to my ? how much does a stock 1980 inline 6 1bbl put out

Re: I-6 300 hp/torque

If I remember correctly, its about 120 horsepower at 3500 rpm and 250 ft. lbs. of torque at 1500 rpm. I'll check my Chiltons tonight as it has a nice little section with all the power ratings up to 1986.

Re: I-6 300 hp/torque

Jeez,
I HOPE it has that much HP and torque... I thought I remembered the stock HP being closer to 100, but it probably is the 120 figure.

If you haven't already the folks over at www.fordsix.com have a forum on the 300 6. Not too many Broncos over there, though.

Re: I-6 300 hp/torque

The carbed ones were down around 100. 120 was the book figure for the FI engines. Torque comes on strong at about 1500-1600 RPM. Good stump pullers. www.fordsix.com is an excellent site for 6 information.
