Rattle / Vibration type sound?? What the *&@#!

So I've been cruisin' around lately, and noticed a funny noise.

It's like a rattle but a high pitched?? Kinda' like when the heat shield starts to go on the Cats..... and you get that weird rattle???

First think I checked, but that ain't it. I have noticed that it happens at around 2 grand, but not if I'm parked and hold the throttle. Only seems to happen when under load, and I coast then give it some gas...

For the life of me I can't figure it out.

I checked the tranny-fluid, and is a-okay.
but haven't the slightest as where to begin..

I know the wisdom is out there
thanks..

U-joints (my first choice for almost any rattle/vibe), exhaust, accessory bearings, lift bracketry, A/C compressor.

I'd say u-joints or waterpump, a/c.. Although I did have a high pitch-rattle when I put my 5.8 in and found out that the fan was nipping the shroud. i just trimmed it no more sound. Also replaced the clutch on the fan, that will make an anoying noise around 2g's.

Thanks guys!!
WaterPump - Recently replaced.
A/C - Good.

Could definitely be the brakes / Fan.
It's weird, and certainly *not* consistent.

I don't *feel* it as I did with the U Joints wearing.
It's more audible than a vibrate.

It almost sounds like an electrical arc... or a short circuit.

Really strange.

I'm gonna' try and get it on the lift tomorrow, and look below...

i had this really annoying rattle, and i couldnt figure out here it was coming from...it drove me crazy!!!!!!
Then, one day, i was looking around underneath, and grabbed one of the tailpipes, and........bingo!!!

Turned out that a ubolt was over-tightened, and it partially crushed the outlet pipe and tailpipe, and the tailpipe was rattling around!

RepT...

I'm kinda' thinking Exhaust as well....
It sound's like the Vibes from the FlowMaster are jostling something.

Only thing is , Everything is welded.... Perhaps the muffler itself?? What a pain in the Arse....

And still what seems so confuse the Ba-Jesus outta' me, is that I cannot seem to make this occur in Park / Neutral???? UGH!

I also had an annoying rattle/vibration that I could feel in the drivers seat like it was right below me. After trying to figure out what it was for a long time it turned out to be the exhaust pipe over the transfer case skid plate. When parked there was at least 1/4 inch clearance but when driving at certain speeds it would hit the skid plate which transmitted the vibration to the frame, etc. Very simple fix for a simple problem that about drove me nuts trying to diagnose. I finally figured it out when I dropped the skid plate to replace the tranny mount. BTW, mine would only rattle/vibrate under driving load. Don't know if this helps but . . .

Thanks Map....
I'm gonna' take a gander hopefully 2n. It sounds really, really similar to my situation, and definitely the *under load* part..
Hopefully this is it!

Shilo, you sure about the muffler bearings? I was actually thinking a bad *flux capacitor*, putting out the wrong jigga-watts....
