Strenth of a 4-speed overdrive transmission

Can a 4 speed overdrive transmission stand big block-Diesel torque?

Re: Strenth of a 4-speed overdrive transmission

If it's a stock, straight Ford trans.---no. The two input shafts are too weak for the high torque application. You can get one piece shafts, and better forward clutches to make a good, robust trans.

Depends on the transmission. My dad has a F-350 Heavy Duty and it has a automatic overdrive with a 7.3 Turbo big block diesel. I am pretty sure it is a E40D, but I am sure it is not the one you would find in a Bronco.
