back window won\'t go back up...where is tailgate closed sensor?

I've heard all broncos eventually have this problem, but I think mine might not be with the motor, but with the sensor that says the tailgate is closed because i can hear the motor try to roll it down when i push the down button, but makes no noise at all when i push the up button. Where is this sensor?

It could be the sensor or it could be the switch in the dash. I've had problems with both.

If the window works the same from the dash as from the rear using the key it's probably the sensor. If it works OK using the key, it's probably the dash switch. You can try to clean the switch (I broke my trying) or replace it (what I ended up doing).

If you decide it's the window sensor, Pull the rear cover. On my 88 the switch is in the center by the tailgate handle. It can be adjusted or bypassed.

When you have the rear cover off, its a great time to clean and lube the mechanism.

or so i thought it was fixed...won't go up again. can't be the motor because another power supply works, and can't be the latch switch because it's bypassed. must be a loose wire, but i wonder where it is. i might just run new wiring and a new switch straight to the motor connector if i can't figure it out. i'll let you guys know if i figure it out.

Sounds like mine when the dash switch was going bad.
