2001 Bronco...really?

I just saw a show on spy photographers and they got shots of a 4-door Bronco...and I've heard that they are reinroducing the Bronco in 2001. Has anybody heard anything or know of a site that has information (or picures!) of this new Bronco? That would be awesome! (maybe there will be a solid-axle option!!!) Time to drop the 93 and get an 01!

Re: 2001 Bronco...really?

Hang on to your '93. It may just be a package on an Explorer! Solid axle VERY unlikely. I guess I just don't expect Ford to put any $ into a non-IFS setup for that class of vehicle. But everybody likes to use names over, especially if they don't have any negatives. Recycled names like Crown Victoria, Impala, (hey, what about Torino, nobody's reused it yet!)

4 doors?? Xounds like a rebadged Expidition

If they make a more capable (offroad) and economical 2 door version, it may be deserving of the Bronco name!

Re: 2001 Bronco...really?

Most of the rumors I know of are from BlueOvalNews.com...according to their "sources," the 4-door Explorer redesign for 2001/02 will result in the 2-door Explorer Sport being dropped. Supposedly it will be replaced by a (2-door)Bronco, which will share many parts with the Explorer but with a different body style.

I have high hopes, considering the "2001" Explorer Sport (with a goal of being more distinctive from the 4-door) was introduced in early 2000...maybe they did this in order to extend production into 2001 and introduce the 2002 Bronco sometime during 2001. I gave Ford my $.02 a couple weeks ago via Owner Connection. I wrote the basics of it in a previous post: V8, solid axles, granny 5-speed, manual, gear-driven transfer case, etc. Where'd the 2-door Excursion rumor come from? I read it on the other LMB list once, too. Don't you think they'd go with a 2-door "Expedition Sport" before an Excursion?

Re: 2001 Bronco...really?

Don't plan on a 2001 Bronco. Like I replied before, I hvae seen a mockup with a Bronco namplate on it, and it looks alot like a Jeep Cherokee, but beefier. Right now, it's just a concept, so things could be changed. As far as Blueoval news info., I would say everything pre-trial is accurate, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of their inside info is currently being "filtered" by their "sources".

Re: 2001 Bronco...really?

Actually, a 2-door Excursion makes a lot more sense than a 2-door Expedition (not that you're likely to see either). With solid axle/leaf-sprung setup, a 2-door Excursion (shrunk down to about 5,000 lbs & with little rear overhang) could actually be worth taking off-road. That'd be much better than a 2-door Expedition IMO. To further reduce weight & increase ground clearance, the Dana 50/80 setup could be changed to a 44/60, 44/50, or 50/50 setup. Once again, just thinking out loud rather than actually expecting to see such a thing.

Re: 2001 Bronco...really?

Hey guys, I've seen a picture of the "new" Bronco. It was a 2-door and it looks like a F250 Super Duty in the front.

They are already making it. Guess where it is being sold? Mexico! I kid you not. I ran across some pictures and an article about it a while back. I will see if I find it again and post it here.

Re: 2001 Bronco...really?

No s***? DEFINATELY post the pic and give us a link if you can find it. Any details: size, powertrain, etc.? So THAT'S where the 2-door Excursion rumor came from! BTW, Ron-Bo, I'm not holding my breath, just hoping there's some truth in these rumors! Thanks for your info, though.
