If you have a DVM, you could check resistance of the sender in the tank by unplugging one of the connectors. If you can get onto this at the gauge, then you can check the sender and all the wiring back to tank. If it reads open, then try finding a connector closer to the tank and doing it again in case the open is in the cable. If its still open, then its a safe bet its the sender. For the heck of it, might try having somebody bounce the vehicle to see if the sender continuity comes and goes as gas sloshes.
