knock sensor

The knock sensor is bad on my 88 302 EFI. It is located on the very back of the intake manifold at the bottom. For anyone who has changed theirs, what is the best way to get at it? I looked for it the other night and I could only see it with a mirror. Is there better access from below or do I just have to do it blind from the top?

Re: knock sensor

The best way that I can think if is to lay on your engine and try it from the top. My truck is tall enough that I have to lay on the engine to do about anything to it. You would be hard pressed to get it from the bottom unless you have abody lift. Or you could say, the hell with sensors!! and let it rot if it dosent effect the truck too much.

Re: knock sensor

The knock sensor is actually threaded into the block, just behind the lower intake. It's actually a piece of cake to swap it out, you just need the right size wrench, and I can't remember the size... You should be able to access it easiest from the passenger side. Good luck!
