clicking noise...

I got stuck 3 times in the most absurd places(on a dirt road in the snow), I put it in 4 and all it did was make a bizarre "clicking" noise on the front driver side... What's goin' on? Am I broke?

Re: clicking noise...

The clicking noise could be the hub on that side racheting, trying to lock up, but can't. If you don't have a Limited Slip rear differential, all it would take is for just one rear wheel to spin in 4WD, and if a front hub won't lock up, then no go, as that front axle shaft will just spin, instead of the other front wheel getting power (power taking the path of least resistance)..
Take a look at the thread "4-wheel drive ?'s" by jnholland further down this list, for a quick way you can check if hubs are locking.
