goofy hub

I have a '94 Bronco that on occasion the left front hub (yes it is an auto-locker, and I have been too darn lazy to change them) locks on it's own! This usually happens after backing out of a parking space and then turning hard to either direction. Since the T/C is not engaged the hub just ratchets until I slow to a stop the next time and then suddenly engages with a big thud! My question is, is my only problem the auto-locking hubs, or is there something else going on? Thanks in advance for your imput.

Re: goofy hub

I had that EXACT same problem with the auto hubs on my 1990, except I had to drive backwards to disengage the hub. The driverside hub would also engage after going up a steep driveway or going over a bump fast. I got some warn manual locking hubs...and the problem went away. So Im guessing the problem wasnt anything other than the hubs. The Warn premiums are really easy to install too
