Fuel Tank Sender (\'92)

Problem: Fuel guage does not register, although every once in a while it will. Is there anything I should check before I drop the tank? What should I look for if I drop the tank? ('92 Custom, 5.0, 5spd, 115k)

Re: Fuel Tank Sender (\'92)

To check if the gauge is working, unhook it from the tank. ( can do without dropping it), take a piece of wire and stick in the wire end. Ground the wire to the frame. Gauges work on resistance, when you ground it, it should show completely full, if the gauge is working. Then take a electric tester to see if the sending unit is working .

good luck
