waterproofing computer

I saw what I believe is the computer behind the left headlight...is it fairly waterproof? If not, would wrapping a ziplock around it and rubber-banding it to its cable bundle do the job? I just read an article in a Four Wheeler from a couple months ago that covered waterproofing, and I'm wondering what else I could do to keep water out of places it should be (of course staying out of places I shouldn't be would help . Also, what is a good tube to use to extend breathers? Thanks.

Re: waterproofing computer

Hey Muddybronco, What about getting a Ford Submarine? Now realize that since a sub's motor is electric, you'll need to get a bigger hammer to beat on it!

Assuming you still want to play "Jacques Coustou" with your Bronco... I searched for one of your previous posts to see that you have a '93. The computer just behind the Left headlight is the 4WABS controller. Its on a sort of wiggly bracket. The controller itself is probably sealed pretty good, but the connections to it would be more of a worry. Ah-ooh-gaa! Dive! Dive!

Re: waterproofing computer

Cool. Is there another computer besides that one...maybe one that controls engine performance? Known as "the computer" (runs Windows 95?)?

Re: waterproofing computer

The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and ICM (Ignition Control Module) are back by the left fender/firewall area.

If the PCM was running NT, then if you had a crash, you could just use the Task Manager to close it, restart it, and your truck would be like new! (uh, yeah, sure!)
