Bearings on 86

I have an 86 with manual hubs. I need to repack the bearings but I am getting different information about how to go about it. Can someone give me a step by step on how to remove the manual hubs and bearings. I have taken off the hub cover and the first snap ring but haven't gone any further. There's a small phillips head screw that seems to hold the center piece of the sping loaded hub in place. But I couldn't get it loose for fear of stripping it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sack

Re: Bearings on 86

That little screw has to come out, try not to strip it but I don't think it should considering your hubs are supposed to spin in grease.
As for the rest of the procedure I could explain how to do it, but it would to your advantage to go and buy a Haynes repair manual on
your truck. They give detailed explainations and show you pictures (the pictures help me out a lot), these books are very valuable
even to the experienced builder. Good Luck!
