Dodge Dana 60 Inner shafts....are they necked ?

Hello,

I am in the process of narrowing a Ford Dana 44 HD for use in a Jeep. One thing that is killing the project is having to go with new inner and outer shafts due to the originals being "Necked". I've got a chance to pick up a 1985 Dana 60 front axle out of a Dodge 3500. My question is : Does anyone know for certain if the inner shafts are "Necked" or full diameter ? I'de like to be able to just shorten and respline the inners. I figure even with stock shafts the Dana 60 will be stronger than a built up 44 HD with new shafts ?

Any thoughts on this ?

You might want to post this on the jeep shortwheelbase forum also.
